the animal names instead of the colors
or is that just me.

Maybe it's you. I present an example:

MMPR named for the zords
Mastadon Pteryodactl Triceratops Saber-tooth Tiger Tyrannosaurus

The colors would not be called out until the Ninja Powers

I.E. - RED RANGER POWER!

In Turbo rather than say their color they said their cars when they morphed.

Dune Star Turbo Power! NEVER CALLED YELLOW RANGER POWER

Mountain Blaster Turbo Power! NEVER CALLED BLUE RANGER POWER

Wind Chaser Turbo Power! NEVER CALLED PINK RANGER POWER

Desert Thunder Turbo Power! NEVER CALLED GREEN RANGER POWER

...Okay. They were still always called by their Ranger color. This doesn't make any sense and doesn't help you at all.

...Okay. They were still named their respective Ranger colors. Who cares what power they tapped? No one ever calls the Green Turbo Ranger the Desert Thunder Turbo Ranger. Because that's not what he's called.
