Yeah sucks to be a EU fan. But I can't blame Disney since the books only cater to a small segment of the audience. And they want Lucasfilm to be able to do their own . The books had the advantage of Lucas supposedly not wanting to do movies after Jedi. But now that the sequel trilogy is happening, that killed the EU. Its a shame they can't just make new novels as part of the legends line and let it be their own thing. Just like the Spider Man comics continue and have nothing to do with the movie continuity. Just an example.

Well I assume some of the new characters will be children of Luke or Leia..Han and Leia being more likely to have kids. They just won't be the same characters from the EU. Which I personally haven't reLly cared about beyond the Thrawn Trilogy. But I do feel bad for the EU fans.
