Should Trent have been evil in the beginning?
In always thought it was odd they made Trent such a likeable guy only to have the White Gem corrupt him. It got even stranger when he just randomly got free of the infulence. I feel like Trent should have started don't out as more of an antagonist and become good overtime.

Disney didn't want Trent to remain an evil Ranger. Thats why the quickly had him free of the gem. They wanted him to quickly join the other Rangers.

I am fine with Trent being a nice guy possessed by the gem. I just think part of his original personality whould have remained. In the beginning he uncontrollable went from being Trent to being overtaken by the gem's infulence. This kind of Jekyll and Hyde relationship was interesting. It shouldn't have been dropped for full on evil Trent.

Trent was no Tommy. They really needed a more charismatic character to be White Ranger. But Tommy didn't even feel like Tommy that season.

I was hoping Cam would come back to connect the series to Ninja Storm. I mean more then just the team up. Green Samurai Ranger would have been a good Sixth Ranger.

I wouldn't say evil. Maybe just a flawed unlikable character that had his own agenda. Just a step further then Eric. You could have him become a true hero in the end.

Re: Should Trent have been evil in the beginning?
The White Dino Power's were a failed attempt by Oliver and Mercer to create the perfect Ranger. But they were unstable and ultimately lost. Terrance Smith was the original candidate. The real reason he was injured was due to testing the powers. That went horribly wrong and screwed up his mind/body. Thats why he remembers the events slightly wrong. Mercer secretly put him in status to try and save him. The loss of Smith and the Gem motivated Mercer to go forward with the Mesagog experiment. When that got out of control Mes rebuilt Smith into Zeltrax. When Trent found the gem it was rough but he was a better match. The powers didn't almost destroy him like Terrance. But theh gave him a bad attitude..

He should have been a spoiled rich kid who only became a Ranger for his personal gain. He would have been on his own side until the last few episodes.

Besides turning good too quickly, I feel they handled him correctly. It would have got boring if he didn't join the team at some point.

I would have just come up with a more dramatic way of him being freed from the Gem's influence.
