Turbo Filming Timeline?
It has been said that Turbo : A Power Rangers Movie was filmed in the middle of
Zeo. Now besides Adam's hair, I found another thing to disprove this. It was said when Austin St. John shot the Turbo movie it was before he was even in consideration to be the Gold Ranger. But as I watched the Turbo behind the scenes video today, in preparation for tomorrow's T:APRM anniversary, I noticed something. I know not many have this video I'll describe it best I can. Jason Narvy and Paul Schrier were interviewing cast members. They were talking with Austin outside of his trailer. They said how he used to be the Red Ranger, and then Austin said how he wasn't a Ranger anymore. Then Paul said that he thought Austin was, and Austin said that first he was the Red Ranger, then he was the Black and Gold Ranger, and now he's not a Ranger. Sounds to me like it was filmed after Zeo. |

Hence the movie having Bulk & Skull as cops again. It was written without much knowledge about where the show was going! >Now besides Adam's hair, I found another thing to disprove this. It was >said when Austin St. John shot the Turbo movie it was before he was even in >consideration to be the Gold Ranger. This is true and false. He was signed up to be in T:APRM in the pre-production phase. Around that time, they decided to go with Jason for the new Gold Ranger, due to his availability and other factors about their original choice to be Gold Ranger (Brad Hawkins). You have to remember, as well. Austin & Amy did the "Blast From The Power Past" appearances in June 96. These were shot just before the filming of the Jason as Gold episodes (slates for those episodes from the end credits are late June). It's quite unlikely they got Amy to do it without it having something to do with her being in the movie, as promotion. >But as I watched the Turbo behind the >scenes video today, Notice on some of the jungle scene slate shots, the bulk of the movie was shot in November 96. I'm pretty sure Steve Cardena's absence in "Good As Gold" has something to do with the filming of T:APRM (he only does a voice in that episode, which is quite odd). Though I can't figure out exactly what it means. Maybe they were trying to phase him out early or something. >I know not many have this video I'll describe it best I can. Jason >Narvy and Paul Schrier were interviewing cast members. This was in the Power Playback special, sort of. "I really don't wanna talk about it..." >They were talking with >Austin outside of his trailer. They said how he used to be the Red Ranger, >and then Austin said how he wasn't a Ranger anymore. Sounds to me like >it was filmed after Zeo. Movies usually take weeks or months to film, obviously. Depending on when that interview was shot, he'd be Gold Ranger or not. There's also the chance he was merely going on what he was told would happen with the series. We can only guess. You know who we need to answer this questions? Paulie. He'd know, having been in the film himself. |

>Ok, well I remember a big discussion a few months ago where someone said it
>was filmed in mid Zeo. Although that would mean scenes with David Yost were >shot, and that would mess everything up. The general rumor for that was he eventually came back after leaving at the end of Zeo. Only to find his role in the film had totally been cut down to nearly nothing. He walked off the set again. This was all from Oxmouze, who rumors are heavily conflicting (he's told people countless versions of Yost walking off the set. From the cutting down of using his character, to torment by fellow cast members about his sexuality! I kid you not! They all conflict with other rumors, of course, and nobody from those days is talking). >Interesting, I never looked that closely as to what would be on the slates. Always a valuable source of finding when things were filmed. End Credit bloopers are littered with them, dating back to MMPR 3 and ending with "Dark Specter's Revenge, Part 2" (at least here in the states). |

Re: Turbo Filming Timeline?
Wasn't this all debunked though? Didn't it turn out that the movie was produced after Zeo and they just didn't worry about wrapping up Zeo storylines. Since Zeo was considered a failure.
It is interesting that there were whispers of Yost walking out due tp ridicule of his sexual orientation. I didn't know there were every any rumors of that. But at the time they obviously weren't taking seriously. Not until Yost confirmed them himself years latsr. |

Re: Turbo Filming Timeline?
The idea of the movie being shot Mid Zeo originally came from Mark Oxman. But we later learned that wasn't true. I think it was something to do with Chris Funaro finding a rough draft for Turbo years later. For awhile there it was a fandom myth though.
