Everyone said he was the next Tommy but I just never saw it.

Yeah being the next Tommy isn't a good thing. Thankfully he wasn't a glory hog like Doctor Oliver.

Interesting, because I think that's one of the coolest scenes not just in S.P.D., but in the whole TV franchise. Bernarg had it coming to him, especially when Cruger managed to re-direct Bergnarg's blast towards Kat to free her. Plus the whole scene foreshadowed what really happened to Cruger's wife, which pays of at the end of the season.

Agreed. It was a baddass scene that fit Cruger's character and advanced the main storyline. It was never about being the next Tommy.

Doggie Cruger was a psycho path who wasn't even a competent Commander. He always put his personal vendetta above his duty. Plus he was stulid enough to make two theives Power Rangers. And for some reason chose the least qualified Ranger to lead. Plus he put up with B Squad's insubordination for far too long.

The guy lost his wife, so you can't blame him for being a little unhinged. B Squad were originally bit players. He couldn't have known A Squad would go MIA so soon.
