Default Is the Nick deal a transition deal by Saban

This is something that is being discussed at other PR boards. But it is Saban Brands PR deal with Nick just a transition deal? All the talk started when people realized that Samurai's airings are going to get stretched out till possible 2012. With Saban Brands already prepping the next season of Power Rangers before Samurai's second season has even aired.

While Samurai is doing well in the ratings. Nick could do just as well with a show that they own. Plus, Nick hasn't exactly promoted PR as their top brand. Thats all been Saban Brands. They never went through with the plan to air PR reruns on Nicktoons.

Meanwhile, Saban Brands has made a lot of money from the Nick deal. As well as from the deals for destribution on Netflix. So it does make you think if Saban just made the Nick deal for the short term as Saban Brands builds up its infrustructure. Since PR could be shopped to another Network if Nick passed when the current deal expired. Saban could just destribute everything online at that point ( thats how things are slowly heading anyway). Maybe Saban Brands will even aquire their own Network down the line? Who knows... But its interesting to think about.

The show hasn't been good since the last time he owned it.

Who the fuck cares about a show that jumped the shark over a decade ago and has become nothing but stagnant waiting for the mosquitoes to lay eggs in it.

Well there are 2 sides to this.

Saban's deal with Nick could just be a temporary one so that by the time it runs out, he'll be able to come up with a better option with a channel that actually promotes pretty good but unfortunately there's that issue of not many channels being good at promoting stuff. Nickelodeon seems to only care about their big shows - SpongeBob, iCarly and Victorious and to another extent Big Time Rush and Supah Ninjas but otherwise it doesn't seem like Nick even cares at all.

The other point is that Saban could be sticking with Nickelodeon for the long haul. I mean other than Nickelodeon, who would even want Power Rangers? The Hub and Cartoon Network might want it but Cartoon Network doesn't have a very good track record with some shows. The Hub is usually pretty good with promoting stuff but it has the downside of it being nothing more than a channel that not many people can get since it's usually added as a digital cable package to some cable companies.

I can definitely see Saban eventually building his own channel but in order for it to be successful, it would have to be a cable channel. Not many shows can survive if they're only aired on digital cable channels only. I believe Degrassi is 1 of the few shows that actually manages to survive despite it only airing on TeenNick.

The kind of people who join an internet forum and post about it? Especially the ones with names like Power Ranger Empire?

Technically it was posted back in August but it's still the Summer then anyway but you're right, it is a very good point that Toku made. You wouldn't have made this board if it weren't for Power Rangers. If people didn't care about it which includes Power Rangers Samurai then people wouldn't even be coming here to begin with in order to discuss it.

Of course, that doesn't mean we can't critique the show or like everything about it.. Since you can be a fan and be critical. But yeah I would think most of us have something invested emotionally in PR.

Precisely... of course there's a difference between critiquing and just hate-bashing the show. I mean I hated how Disney treated the show under their ownership not to mention all of the edits and reshots they had to do because of how they felt about some of the violent scenes but Disney still had some great seasons.

That's how you feel. Whereas with me, they've had at least 2 great seasons. The other ones are just decent or average. None of their seasons top Turbo and Lightspeed as some of the worse ones though.
