It would make little sense for a kid to become a Galaxy Ranger when their isn't even a threat.

The whole point of the scene was that it was a nudge to the idea Maya was destined to be Galaxy Yellow from the beginning.

It was just to supposed to be a neat little scene that was a nice call back to the viewer. Since we knew Maya would pull the saber as an adult.
