2 cents on Sentai: Role Call!
No I am not talking about a team role call, rather I am on the subject of Actresses in more "mainstream" Sentai series.
If I can compare Sentai to Rangers actress wise is this: There is definately more female sentai actresses who does the modelling biz then the ranger actresses. Of course needless to say, let's just say there is more in the way of NSFW pinups or centerfolds for Sentai then Rangers. A good scan of the internet should give you a broad idea of what I mean by Sentai Actresses posing for mags and photobooks. Either way, it was a rather bit of nasty shock to me, I have heard of AJJ posing topless for some "things". But to see BoukenYellow or DekaYellow does bikini modelling as one of her professions, now that is an eye opener. This gave me a thought... What if Toei decide to make a direct seiyu subsidy meant to create "kid friendly" Actresses in general. Similar to disney as their actresses from NZ didnt have such histories. (most of them, but I doubt the female rangers did such things). When did you first notice that Sentai actresses had done gravure or related modelling acts? feel free to add your thoughts in. Mind you I am new. |

Uh... why is modeling a negative? Models are hired as actors all the time, they just look good on screen. Ricardo Medina Jr. was a male model before he became Cole on Wild Force.
Japan has a different culture than us, they don't have a problem with kids Googling bikini models. It's not like they're porn stars. |

Well, Gravure is a japan only thing here is def for it...
An art form popular in Japan whereby a pre-teen or teen female idol poses for clothed, semi-clothed, or nude pictures in various positions and costumes. The pictures are published in magazine form, called photobooks, featuring only this female model and no others. Gravure idols feature race queens and pop idols who who to achieve celebrity by selling their images I am just more neutral on this, on one hand, it is totally awesome seeing hot models like Ayumi Kinoshita in the role of Deka Yellow. But then again, it seems Disney keeps a more "cleaner" image for Power Rangers as they dont bikini/laddie models as actresses. But it does gives off a nice touch to satiate the dad/teenager crowd as the bishonen boys does for moms. |

And an even more high profile example would be Rebecca Romijn who was cast to play Mystique in the X-Men series.
Oh and Primo, you're forgetting James MacLurcan. I believe the only work we had seen from him previous to Power Rangers was modeling. |

>_< It's called an example. I'm not about to list every PR actor who's done modeling work. My point was simply to illustrate that we cast models same as Japan. |

I figured that, but wanted to point at a more recent example.
