Hurricanger ?
You know, after watching the Samurai on PR this week, I was
wondering if there were ANY similarities between the PR version and Hurricanger. I know the GSR was intro'd as a mystery and a master of disguise for a few episodes, I was also wondering who he was and what was his connection with the other Hurrcangers? |

Needless to say they screwed him in PR. He is not a Samurai and calling him that is fucked. |

I agree,Shurikenger is a lot better character than PRNS's version.Also having
the past sentai actors play possible alter egos for Shuri was a very nice touch. |

Re: Hurricanger ?
Power Rangers has been very creative, especially in the early seasons. Which were the most different from Super Sentai.

The main similarlities are the theme and general idea of Ninja Schools. The rivalery with the Thunders is adapted but changed up. They took the concept and did their own thing with it. The Ninja Storm characters feel like their own characters. GSR is totally different from Cam.

Honestly I would have like to have something similar to Hurricanger, but Jason Chan's character needed something like this, he's one of the better actors and fighters in the show. |

Unfortunately at this time I've only seen PRNS 1-4. So I can't compare the episodes for you. Much of the information you may be seeking can be found at this url: http://www.fortunecity.com/tatooine/...rri/index.html |

IMO PR does not use Sentai it rips it off. And PR is anything but creative. Creative would be coming up with a totaly original show. |

Re: Hurricanger ?
Quick question then. What would YOU have called him?
Bear in mind, they've already had the neuter the "Gyro Shurikens", which is a sure sign that references to throwing stars are on their "no can do" list. (Probably down to ABC's BS&P) It is irritating, true. But (unfortunately) what is acceptable in Japan and in America does tend to differ. And there are always going to be times when the Sentai source material would be far too questionably for the "Kids TV Higher-Ups" to allow - despite the fact that Sentai fans and older PR-fans would probably appreciate it more. Hell, so would the kids! Bloody TV execs never give them enough credit. |
