Who was Gosei?
It seems odd that Zordon suddenly had a protege out of nowhere.

Re: Who was Gosei?
Zordon was really old and so is Gosei. There is plenty of time for Zordon to mentor Gosei.

Re: Who was Gosei?
Gosei was one of Zordon 's million contingency plans. But he kept him in stasis out of fear. He didn't wake him up to take over the Turbo because he didn't want Gosei to turn on him. He wasn't afraid of Dimitria.

Re: Who was Gosei?
To be honest, the whole "Zordon was my mentor" thing seems to be put in there in the last second. It's NEVER addressed or even mentioned again. The MMPR team is not even referenced in (Super) Megaforce. Except for 2 cast member and Ranger suit & weapons cameos, not much thought was made what makes it into the script and then into the final aired version of the show. That season didn't even get the chance to tell a proper storyline, even if it's bland. (Super) Megaforce was a season that just served to burn off Sentai footage from their 2 seasons for anniversary reasons because they weren't able to get enough people to come back and do proper tribute episodes. Nothing more.
I like to pretend that Gosei has no connection to our Zordon. Trust me, the line was just put together to get & keep the hype going. In my mind, the Megaforce Ranger fought the Warstar for 40 episodes and a completely separate team did the same against the Armada for the same amount of episodes. |

Re: Who was Gosei?
Yeah it was a pretty random line. Just like the odd line of Zordon making Tommy the leader with Jason reacting like it was awesome.

Re: Who was Gosei?
It was lazy writing as was the norm at that point.

Re: Who was Gosei?
It would have made more sense if JDF was the voice of Gosei. Then it can be revealed that Tommy was mentoring them remotely.

Re: Who was Gosei?
That would have been cool and easy to pull off. Since JDF would just have to send his lines in by phone like he did during the stuck morphed storyline in DinoThunder. Plus JDF was making a real appearance in Legendary Battle.

Re: Who was Gosei?
Also, it would be better if, instead of Gosei, the Rangers would have had a female-type mentor like Hayley was in DinoThunder who conveniently knows everything about past Ranger teams and their history, including the identities of the current Rangers. It could work well for character focused episodes and we would have at least gotten at least anniversarry-type references to past Rangers and their teams in both Megaforce and Super Megafroce "seasons".
