The background was me zooming up on a the yellow dinoranger costume, and picking two shades of yellow and grey. Then, I used the big square brush and simply made a big square composing of the four colors I chose (with me so far?)...then the wonderful copy and paste button did the rest. Use Cntrl+G(grid) if it helps you make it look better aligned.
