Eltar is dying. Zordon and Eordon are best friends and powerful wizards. Both disagree on how to save the planet. Zordon wants to peacefully ask other planets for help for help. While Eordon believes its quicker to take what they need by force. This causes a civil war on Eltar. With Eltar near death both factions wind up on Earth. Rita originally fights on Zordon's side. Trying to prove she is good after being known as the daughter of Master Vile. Rita defects to Erodon's side when she thinks its the only way to revive Eltar . Eordon's army is defeated and mostly destroyed.
In a last ditch effort he tries to steal the Zeo Crystal but it leaves him badly deformed and pure evil. Dark Specter rebuilds him and gives him the power of the Z Snake.
