He was being let's say "soft" if you will since he wasn't in full control of Jarrod.
Grizzaka didn't care who he was he hated Dai Shi and despised humans so even if he wasn't in Jarrod's body it's hard to say how loyal he would've been.
Its odd how Dai Shi was less powerful than the Overlords. And then the Phantom Beasts just accepted him as their leader when they were originally at war.
