Another example of over confidence was how he didn't realize Vader himself would turn on him. Despite the fact he threatened his son.

Luke's twin is the reason why he didn't turn to the dark side. His love for his sister is too strong.

It also was used against him when Vader threatened to turn her. Since this made Luke surrender to his anger before realizing he was about to make the same mistake his father made.

Luke didn't have to worry about dealing with the rigid Jedi Code and his strong romantic feelings for Padme. Even if his love for his friends did allow him turn to the dark side for a brief moment.

Luke had too much of a good head on his shoulders than Anakin did honestly. His dad was way too wreckless. He let his emotions guide him way too much while his son didn't.
