Why was Dai Shi subserviant to the Overlords?
 

It made no sense since he was their master. Yet they treated Dai Shi like he was Jarrod.

Jarrod wasn't fully Dai Shi yet. He just choose to be more evil and evil until Dai Shi took over. Jarrod got scared so he pretended to turn good to save his own skin.

This was a big inconsistency. One episode the writers treated him like the all powerful Dai Shi and others featured him as evil Jarrod. Who for some reason became more bad ass when they changed history so he cheated on a test. Then in the end they remember Jarrod is actually possessed by Dai Shi. So we get the half assee redemption angle. And suddenly Dai Shi acts on his own.

I always took it like Dai Shi was less in control in the beginning and waiting to regain his true form. I think he controlled hom enough to have Jarrod inherit aspects of his personality and to do his bidding. But Jarrod's human half very mucn influenced Dai Shi. The Overlords saw him as a half breed and now the true Dai Shi. Especiall in Grizakas case. Who was already mad at Dai Shi for losing the first war.

Dai Shi Jarrod himself had to relearn a lot of things. So in some ways he was evil Jarrod. But by the end of the season it became apparent that either Jarrod or Dai Shi would be in control fully. And thats when Dai Shi made his move.

yes it's true that Dai Shi the physical presence was within Jarrod so Dai Shi would've been outranking the Overlords due to being the Master but they were using Carnisoar and Jellica to train him so that it would get rid of the human influence that was coming from Jarrod.
He was being let's say "soft" if you will since he wasn't in full control of Jarrod.
Grizzaka didn't care who he was he hated Dai Shi and despised humans so even if he wasn't in Jarrod's body it's hard to say how loyal he would've been.

Its odd how Dai Shi was less powerful than the Overlords. And then the Phantom Beasts just accepted him as their leader when they were originally at war.

not that weird since the humanity was probably suppressing Dai Shi's true power and as for the Phantom Beasts they really didn't have much of a choice since there was 8 in the war but they were only able to revive 3 of them

I always took it like Dai Shi's evil infected Jarrod, but in a lot of ways Jarrod was still in control. So he was almost like a different Dai Shi.

This was one of the flaws with Jungle Fury. There was too many contradictions as to what was Jarrod and what was Dai Shi. I did like Jarrod's overall arch though. They should have just had Jarrod be a full fledge traitor. The have him turn good in the end and Dai Shi take control then. With Casey saving him like he did in the real season.
