Was Rita really joking?
 

In season 3, there is a joke where Rita mentioned the Zeo Crystal turned Zedd's body inside out. But Zedd just groaned like some one is being sarcastic. So was it a joke or a true reason for Zedd's wierd look.

She was joking. The way Zedd reacted it was as if Rita was being silly. Its a shame though...Because that origin would have been pretty cool and would have made a lot of sense. Especially with Zedd's castle being on top of where the Crystal was hidden.

Lord Zedd can't take a joke very well aparently. Rita and Zedd were such the old married couple. Well except for the fact that they were newlyweds in MMPR.

I think it was the origin. Zedd was just annoyed that she brought it up. Probably isn't something he likes to talk about. Plus it tells us why Zedd never tried to get the crystal before. He knew the protection field woud prevent him like it did so long ago.

I think Lord Zedd and Zordon were friends. Zordon wanted to protect the crystal and leave it where it was. Zedd beleved the crystal would give hin the power to defeat evil. But when he tried to take it, the crystal sensed the dark path he was on and rejected him. Leaving Zedd badly scarred and demented. He would blame Zordon for all this and turn to evil.

I personally believe Rita's comment was nothing more than one of her own lame old married couple jokes which she was famous for after marrying Zedd.

I think Lord Zedd was just the way he was. I don't think he ever looked human until post C2D. There is nothing to suggest that Zedd is deformed and we don't even know his species.

She was joking. Zedd would have been far more mad if it was an true story. Something like that would have been tramatic Even for Lord Zedd.

It was such a throw away line and presented in a lack of serious manner....That it almost has to be a joke. I agree it would have made for a cool origin for Zedd. And would have made him even more cross with Vile since he was trying to do what he couldn't do himself. Which would have irritated someone like Zedd.

She was joking. Rita had that kind of sick sense of humor and couldn't resist embarrassing Zedd. She knew Zedd was annoyed by her father and was just having some fun at his expense.
