The idea of her being like Jarrod and possesed by a less powerful evil spirit makes sense.

The episode with the flashbacks to his life set up Jarrod having good in him and made him look more sympathetic. Even though cheating on a test, failing to do charity, and beating up bullies seem like a lame way to become a master of evil.
