Power Rangers Franchise
began
in 1993. It started out as a campy children adventures show
called
the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. Our heroes fought the evil
forces of evil
led by Empress Rita Repulsa (with dubbed vioce and all).
Power Rangers was adapted from a japenese show called sentai which had similar concepts, The sentai action footage was spliced together with American footage to create the show. The result was the fun campy show many have came to love. The show was an instant success with kids and generated huge toy sales. Over the years Power Rangers have grown and matured. It still is a innocent kids show in a lot of ways but production values have vastly improved if you compare it today to its orginials season. More importantly the stories and characters have been better written. This has created a situation where the action goes around the story and not the other way around. PR
is nowhere near has popular
as
it was in the beginning of its run but it still generates vast
amounts
of toy sales. PR as also created a small teen and adult fan following .
Athough it is nothing compared to the number of kids who watch the show
the adult fan following has created a web community dedicated to
the show. So after surviving all these years one can only dream where
PR
will go next, as it continues on through the twenty first century.
